Distance 44 km (cum. 5,555 km); Ascent 1,101 m (cum. 42,305 m). It was the hardest day, with very steep climbs on a bad road. In the afternoon a freezing wind started to be increasingly disturbing. We were lucky that the Chilean border guards offered us their guest room. We could spend the night in a warm place and refill our supply of water for the next day.
