Applied epidemiology training in Europe: quite a success - but more to be done

I was invited by two brilliant epidemiologists for this opinion paper on perspectives of field epidemiology training in Europe. Gerard Krause was the chairman of EPIET Training Site Forum and Alain Moren was the chief coordinator of EPIET (European Programme for Intervention Epidemiology Training). My role was to formulate the perspective on field epidemiology training in EU Member States who joined the EU in 2004 and stuggled due to incompatibility of Public Health systems and access to teaching of modern epidemiological methods.
