Distance 111 km (cum. 4,976 km); Ascent 57 m (cum. 34,623 m). I arrived to Vicuña, driven by the wish to take at least two days of rest and use some internet connection to reconnect to my family and friends. Also I started to have some new issues with my bicycle which is an additional motivation to return to civilisation :) It took me some time to come here. Even if there was a good quality road almost all the way down, i was nevertheless facing a strong headwind. All the valley of Elqui was covered by vineyards. It seems that the microclimate here is perfect for production of good quality wine and famous national drink 'pisco' (kind of grappa).
