Role of immunization in global infectious disease eradication programmes

When the long-term chief epidemiologist in Poland prof. Wiesław Magdzik started to work on thed second edition of this vaccinology handbook, I was invited to prepare a chapter on the role of vaccinations in disease eradication. I was happy to work on this chapter and was quite proud of the resulting publication. Although new manuals and handbooks were published later on, this first compendium is still a valuable resource, as it links the knowledge and experience of "ancient epidemiologists" and overview of modern epidemiology.
