Lecture (in Polish) presented on the Congress of the Polish Society of Epidemiologists and Infectious Disease Specialists (PTEiLChZ 2009)

We always tried to use these large congresses of infectious disease specialists to promote epidemiological surveillance and public health projects. This lecture concerned the WHO measles elimination initative. I provided some arguments that monitoting of measles outbreaks provides important indicators of measles elimination. When there is sufficient vaccination coverage, measles outbreaks are usually linked with importations and do not spread for a long time... Also collecting specimens from measles cases can help in "genetic tracing" where does the virus comes from...
