Poster (in English) presented at the European Scientific Conference on Applied Infectious Disease Epidemiology (ESCAIDE 2007)

When I was involved in international collaboration on invasive meningococcal disease (IMD) prophylaxis guidelines, I started to analyse more closely the Polish IMD surveillance. In this investigation, we documented that improvements in diagnostics and extension of surveillance in 2005 led to improved detection of IMD clusters. This is important to prevent secondary transmission and avoid subsequent cases of this potentially lethal disease. This investigation was published in the journal Eurosurveillance.
